HISTORY PERSONALITY - good heart, bad timing. - inopportune moments. - crash landing. "His flaws. The things I probably draw into the most are his flaws and he’s good at what he does. His kind of moral conundrum, what’s the right thing to do. It isn’t the suit, it isn’t the special effects, it isn’t the action, it’s none of that stuff that draws me necessarily to a character. It’s what human emotion, whatever he’s going through that is relatable and empathetic. That’s really the stuff that you play. That’s what I’d say drew me into this guy, what stood out." - Paul Rudd Scott Lang is an example where good intentions don't always translate into good consequences. When we're first introduced to him - he's got a heart of gold that lands him in prison, for trying to do the right thing. Think Robin Hood allowing himself to lose to Prince John. A company that embezzles from its patrons isn't worth working for, as Scott is convinced. However, trying to give the people back their money ends up landing him in jail, but only because thieving (really, burglary) is still a crime in the United States. He takes his jail sentence with ease, accepting the consequences for his actions, but once he’s out he fully intends on reforming himself. For all his days of committing crime, Scott’s a guy who ends up somewhat cocky. He’s good at what he does, and he knows it. After being released from jail, he’s convinced his Masters in Electrical Engineering will carry him as a reformed criminal, only to find out that it gets him nowhere except Baskin Robbins (albeit for all of two seconds before he’s found out). -- What’s most important to him is Cassie (getting a job, getting his shit together for her, doing things to redeem himself in her eyes). -- Outside of Cassie, he’s a pretty laid back guy, doesn’t take a lot of things seriously, also doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut. “I’m just here for the ride.” -- Relationship with the Van Dyne & Pym -- “Alright. I’ll commit a crime and basically save the world from a psychotic scientist to make my daughter happy. Seems legit.” |
